Welcome to the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE) site! The CWE, located in McIntyre Library 2003A, provides a comfortable atmosphere for a one-to-one tutoring session with a qualified writing assistant.
Students may schedule one or more appointments with a writing assistant. To arrange an appointment, please call 836-2644 or stop by McIntyre Library 2003A. As the semester proceeds, sessions fill quickly, so we encourage students to make appointments as soon as possible during the writing process. Walk-in appointments are also offered in the main center depending on availability, but our five satellite centers located across campus are designed to accommodate walk-in sessions only.
Exceptional students from a variety of majors are eager to assist you with your writing in any discipline and at any stage in the writing process. All writing assistants complete an upper-level tutoring course and are regularly mentored and evaluated. They will help if you're just beginning to brainstorm, needing to go over a final version of your work, or anything in between. Whether your assignment is a long research paper, short essay, personal statement, or business letter, help is available for you in the Center for Writing Excellence!
