UAC Concert: Anna Johnson with Opener Chris Koza
7:30pm | Dakota Ballroom | Free
Anna Johnson is a girl who makes music from the deepest part of her heart. Her songs sing stories of life and love, friendship and the road, with an emphasis on effortless harmonies and intricate string arrangements. Though she began as a songwriter with great Pop sensibilities, Anna's writing and performance style has matured into a more organic Americana/Pop, again with a foundation of story-telling by way of floating harmonies and acoustic guitars. A Her band includes her sister and husband, and she puts great emphasis on staying connected with those who support and enjoy her music. Please connect with her on facebook: www.facebook.com/themusicanna
Chris Koza is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter who has been recording and releasing albums since 2004, when he self- released the critically acclaimed "Exit Pesce", a collection of 9 songs self-recorded and produced in a summer sublet apartment. In the Twin Cities, Koza performs as both a solo artist, as part of ensemble shows, and primarily with his band Rouge Valley . His song-writing carries a strong emphasis on the lyrical and poetic elements, with stylings and textures rooted in folk and americana traditions. It is impossible to ignore his influences through a classic and contemporary pop music lineage including the likes of The Zombies, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne, Greg Brown, Elliot Smith, Ryan Adams, Brendon Benson, and Fleet Foxes, to name a few. http://chriskoza.com/
