Placement Testing

UW-Eau Claire requires students to take UW-System Placement tests prior to enrolling in:

• Courses fulfilling the university writing requirement (formerly referred to as the English competency requirement) -- Writing 114, 116, 118.
• All math and statistic courses and other courses with a math prerequisite.
• Spanish, French and German courses (unless you have been out of high school for 3 or more years).

The only exception is for students who have prior work in the subject.

Note: Students wishing to take Japanese must take a locally developed placement test.  Contact Academic Testing (715-836-5522) to schedule the test.
