Pack it up, Pass it on
Pack it Up, Pass it Onis a spring move-out event to benefit students and to keep neighborhoods clean when students are moving at the end of spring semester.
Students can donate gently used, like new, and quality items during the event which will be set up at the Water Street University Parking lot at the corner of Second Avenue and Water Street from noon until 6 p.m. on May 19th and 20th.
Students can donate/drop off re-usable clothes, furniture, non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, and other household items at no cost. Items that are in poor condition and unable to be reused can be left for a small fee –just $5-$10 for items such as broken furniture, old mattresses, and electronics. See complete list of charges below:
|Items to Donate||Fee student MAY be charged|
|Usable, good quality items||Free!|
|Unusable small items (chair, end table, kitchen chair, etc.)||$5|
|Large items (love seat, couch, desk, dresser, large table)||$10|
|Mattresses and box springs||$10|
|PCs, laptops, LCDs, printer, scanner, cellphones||Free!|
|Plastic TVs 19" or under||$5|
|Plastic TVs 19"-32"||$10|
If students are unable to make it to the event with items they need to get rid of, they can still dispose of items responsibly by contacting their refuse hauler for pick-up, or donating items directly to other community non-profit organizations, such as Goodwill, Hope Gospel Mission Bargain Center, and others.
Also, during the month of May, garbage haulers will make daily curbside garbage pick-up in student neighborhoods. Students may be charged by their garbage hauler or their landlords for larger items left behind when they move.
