Don't Dump It; Donate It
Don't Dump It; Donate It is a cooperative community event to collect usable clothes, household items, non-perishable food items, and furniture at the end of each Spring semester. Contact your refuse hauler for pick up of unusable furniture and other items. Donations of appliances, televisions, microwaves, oil filters, and fluorescent bulbs are not accepted.
The event will be held in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Water Street Parking Lot (corner of Second Avenue and Water Street) on Monday, May 23, 2010 from 9:00am to 3:00pm and on Tuesday, May 24, 2010 from 9:00am to 3:00pm. For assistance in hauling large items, please call the Health Department at (715) 839-4718 to make arrangements prior to May 23.
If you have items to donate, but cannot participate on May 23 or May 24, please contact one of the following organizations and deliver your donations to them: Lutheran Social Services (715-552-2401), Salvation Army Thrift Store (715-839-7976), Goodwill Industries (715-835-0532), Eau Claire Interfaith Hospitality Network Beacon House (715-834-4357), or Hope Gospel Mission Bargain Center (715-839-9498).
Also, there is another event specifically for garbage pick up, "Spring Move Out", in which there is daily curbside garbage pick up from Friday, May 20th to Saturday, May 28th (except Sunday, May 22). This event takes place in designated areas only. See the map at www.eauclairewi.gov/recycle. All garbage must be bagged. Recycling will only be collected on regularly scheduled pick-up days. You must make arrangements with your garbage hauler in advance to assure pick-up within 24 hours and to discuss associated costs. All garbage must be picked up within 24 hours of being placed at the curbside. Be sure to use heavy-duty plastic garbage bags to contain garbage and trash such as: one mil or greater thickness and 30-32 gallon capacity. If you have any questions, call the Eau Claire City-County Health Department at 715-839-4718.
This is a cooperative effort of: Eau Claire City-County Health Department, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student National Environmental Health Association, City of Eau Claire, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Parking and Transportation Services Office, Hope Gospel Mission, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate, Chippewa Valley Apartment Association, Third Ward and Historic Randall Park Neighborhood Association, Eau Claire Interfaith Hospitality Network (a United Way Partner), Waste Management, and Veolia Environmental Services.
