SOS Board Members


The voting members of the SOS Commission are composed of the student SOS Director and up to eleven board members (up to six student senators and up to five non-senators). SOS interns are not considered as voting board members. All voting members of the commission must be currently enrolled as students at the UW-Eau Claire with a minimum of six credits and must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. To be considered for appointment to the SOS Commission, you must apply at the start of each new Student Senate session (the start of each fiscal year). Current commission members must also reapply at this time to be reappointed to the board. Members of the commission are recommended by the SOS Director to the Student Body President for appointment to the commission.  

What do Board Members Do?


SOS board members are expected to:

  • Understand the policies that guide the allocation of the Green Fund
  • Adhere to the policy of viewpoint neutrality, as described the SOS Bylaws (4.02)
  • Comprehend the budgetary process
  • Complete all duties assigned by the SOS Director in a timely, thoughtful, and thorough manner
Board members attend all weekly SOS Board meetings in order to discuss and vote on Green Fund allocations as well as other SOS legislation. Board members may become more involved with SOS programs, projects, and events and may even take on larger leadership roles if they express avid interest.
