Overview News and Announcements Student Organizations    Faculty and Staff Links		Courses and Requirements Sociology Major, Liberal Arts Thirty-six semester credits including: Credits SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology 3 SOC 331 Sociological Data Analysis 3 SOC 332 Methods of Social Research 3 SOC 344 Sociological Theory 3 SOC 490 Sociology Capstone 3 *Sociology Electives 21 A minimum grade of C must be earned in all courses taken in residence that are used to satisfy requirements for the major. Majors are strongly encouraged to enroll in SOC 331 no later than the first semester of their junior year. A maximum of 9 credits may be earned in SOC 395, 399, 496, 497, 498, and/or 499. A maximum of 3 Soc 491 courses (9 credits) may be counted toward the major. Sociology Major, Early Adolescence/Adolescence Teaching Thirty-six semester credits including: Credits SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology 3 SOC 142 Contemporary Social Problems 3 SOC 312 Race and Ethnicity in the U.S. 3 SOC 164 OR SOC 316 Courtship and Marital Relations Sociology of the Family 3 SOC 331 Sociological Data Analysis 3 SOC 332 Methods of Social Research 3 SOC 344 Sociological Theory 3 SOC 490 Sociology Capstone 3       Total Required 24 Electives 12 * NOTE: Students may elect any additional 12 credits offered in the department. Eighteen of the 36 credits for the major must be earned in upper division courses (those numbered 300 or above at UW-EC). This major leads to licensure to teach in grades 6-12. Sociology Minor, Liberal Arts Twenty-four semester credits including: Credits SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology 3 Any one of the following courses: SOC 331, SOC 332 or SOC 344 3 *Sociology Electives 18 * NOTES: A minimum of nine credits must be taken in courses numbered 300 or above. A minimum grade of C must be earned in all courses taken in residence that are used to satisfy requirements for the minor. Sociology Minor, Early Adolescence/Adolescence Teaching Twenty-four semester credits including: Credits SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology 3 SOC 142 Contemporary Social Problems 3 SOC 331 Sociological Data Analysis 3 SOC 332 Methods of Social Research 3 SOC 344 Sociological Theory 3 Nine credits selected from the following: SOC 164, SOC 303, SOC 312, SOC 316, SOC 329, SOC 351 9 * NOTES: 1.
