The Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire offers a major and minor in sociology. Sociology students may enroll as either liberal arts or secondary education majors and minors.
In addition to its programs in sociology the department has administrative responsibility for the interdisciplinary minor in family studies. The family studies minor focuses on relationships and changes in the family from the perspective of sociology, psychology, religious studies, history, anthropology, and social work.
Sociology course work also is found in the following interdisciplinary programs: the criminal justice comprehensive major, the gerontology minor, the women's studies major, minor and certificate, the broadfield teaching social studies major and minor, and the environment, society, and culture minor.
