Project Description: The Eau Claire Area School District is looking for UWEC students who are interested in coaching middle school athletics. The middle school athletic program is participatory based and has a no-cut policy. Volunteers will work closely with school coaches to enhance the students' experience in athletics. DeLong, Northstar and South Middle Schools participate in a conference along with Chippewa Falls, Altoona and Menomonie middle schools. UWEC interns would be expected to be at practice on a regular basis, help with the execution of the practice plan and work closely with the professional coach.
Dates Needed: 9-7-09 through 5-7-09
Skills/Availability Requirement: Practice times at all three middle schools are typically from 3:00-4:45 pm. There are no weekend commitments or Wednesday activities.

Project Description: Fitness Instructor(s), under the supervision of the Senior Center Director, will plan, promote, organize, and lead fitness classes for active seniors. Desired minimum qualifications include knowledge of group or individual fitness instruction, CPR, and First Aide training. Service Learner(s) may do one or several of the classes as may fit their schedule. We are willing to work with several persons in order to fill our needs. Pay: $8/hour class. Classes available include M, W, F Circuit Class from 8:30-9:30am, M, W, F Strength Class (weight lifting) from 9:30-10:30am and Thursday Abs/Back/Stretching Class from 9:30-10:30am,
Skills/Availability Requirement: Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities include: working with older persons in compassionate, confidential, and helpful manner, ability to work with other instructors to create well-balanced classes; knowledge of the types of programs which contribute to the maintenance of physical well-being for seniors.

Project Description: Various Programs Flag Football: T & TH 5:15pm-8:00pm 9-16-08 through 10-30-08 Soccer: M & W 5:15pm-8:00pm 9-15-08 through 10-29-08 Learn to Skate: 2 times a week November and December for 6 weeks dates and times TBD (usually 5:00pm-6:00pm) Preschool ages also Students will be instructing youth grades K-6th in the fundamentals of the sport listed. Teaching both fundamental skills and FUN! Each student will be given the guidelines to be used in each program. There is a Coordinator who oversees the department.
Skills/Availability requirement: It would be helpful if the student/s had some background in the particular youth program they wish to be a part of. They should enjoy spending time with children, be positive and enthusiastic!
