Mary Nienow joined the faculty at UWEC as the internship director in the fall of 2012. Mary’s specialty is macro practice, having over a decade of experience in research, teaching, advocacy, program coordination, policy development and analysis in public and private organizations.
She most recently served as the Executive Director of Child Care WORKS, a statewide child care advocacy non profit in Minnesota. Before joining Child Care WORKS, Mary was the lead researcher on Health and Human Services budgets and policy for the Minnesota Senate DFL Caucus. Mary has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and her BSW from UWEC. She is currently a doctoral student in Social Work at the University of Minnesota. She lives in St. Paul with her husband, Jeremy, and very spirited daughter, Mary Catherine.
