SSS Mentoring Activities are held only during the fall semester. The events for Fall 2012 are listed below.
A Night at the Dulany: SSS Freshman Welcome
SSS mentors and mentees will meet at this event where new freshmen have a chance to get acquainted with SSS staff and other students over pizza. A scavenger hunt will help new students become familiar with various campus offices.
Tuesday, Sept. 4, 5:00-6:30 pm, Dulany Inn, Davies Center 122
Eau Claire Walking Tour and Ice Cream
SSS mentors and mentees will have a chance to socialize while taking a walking tour of Eau Claire. We will conclude at the Oak Ridge residence hall for ice cream sundaes.
Saturday, Sept. 8, 1:00-2:30 pm; start at campus footbridge; end at Oak Ridge Hall, Room 15
Team-Building at the Low Ropes Course
SSS mentors and mentees will participate in some team-building activities that encourage cooperation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ropes activities will be no more than two or three feet above the ground.
Saturday, Oct. 6, 1:00-2:30 pm, at Crest Wellness Center
Trip to the Mall of America and the Orpheum Theatre
Don't miss our bus trip to the Twin Cities! Mentors and mentees will spend the afternoon exploring the Mall of America and then proceed to the historic Orpheum Theatre for a performance of the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast.
Sunday, Oct. 21, leave Eau Claire at 1:30 pm; performance is 6:30-9:00 pm; arrive back in Eau Claire approximately 11:00 pm
Game Night
SSS mentors and mentees will take a break from studying and test their skill at such games as Texas Hold 'Em, Apples to Apples, Pictionary, Taboo, and Catch Phrase. Refreshments will be served.
