Anne Papalia and students Minelee Vang and Emily Nesbitt presented "Hmong ELL Learners with Specific Learning Disabilities: An Analysis of Referral and Eligibility Practices" at the CEC 2014 Annual Convention and Expo in Philadelphia, PA in April. This was a Faculty/Student Research Grant supported by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

Rose Battalio and Angela Dalhoe presented "Demystifying Reinforcement and Punishment: Additional Support for Future General Education Teachers" at the Council for Children with Behavior Disorders conference in Chicago, IL in September 2013. Todd Stephens also attended the conference for professional development.
UW-Eau Claire alumnus, Lynne Kohlhepp, was presented the Wisconsin Special Services Teacher of the Year award on September 18, 2013. Lynne is a special education teacher at Wausau West High School. Lynne graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1980 with a comprehensive degree in Mental Retardation and Elementary Education. Lynne also received her Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities in 1984. “She is totally dedicated to advance our students’ achievement and success in learning, which is totally what our school district is all about,” Wausau Superintendent Kathleen Williams said. “She takes a personal interest in all of her students, and it shows in the achievement they’re moving forward with. She’s extraordinary.”
