Welcome to Recreation and Sport Operations

Recreation and Sport Operations oversees the fitness programs, outdoor recreation, and competitive sports along with sport operations. We invite you to get involved!

Facilities

We have two fitness centers on campus, Crest Fitness Center is located in the Crest Wellness Center.  Our second fitness center is the McPhee Strength and Performance Center, located in McPhee.  Both fitness centers offer strength and cardio equipment.  A membership is required and can be for one or the other, or dual to access both centers.  Also in McPhee is the swimming pool, multipurpose gyms, indoor track, and racquetball courts.

In addition, we oversee and maintain the outdoor facilities including the turfed Simpson Field, a 9-element fitness loop, and eight outdoor tennis courts all located behind McPhee Center.  Among the residence halls are the basketball and sand volleyball courts. Just south of campus is the Bollinger Field Complex consisting of 4 softball fields, 1 varsity softball field, 1 rugby pitch, 3 soccer fields, and 1 baseball field.

Our outdoor program is very comprehensive and includes the Eagle’s View Challenge Ropes Course, Indoor Rope Wall, Bouldering Wall, Outdoor Equipment Rental Center, Adventure Trips Program, Freshman Connection Program, Indoor Archery Range, Golf Simulator, Disc Golf Course, Billiards’s area, and the Bike Maintenance Program. If you want to get outside and need skis, kayaks, or camping gear, we got you covered!

Competitive Sports and Group Exercise

The competitive sports program consists of Intramural Sports, 30 Club Sports, and eSports. Something for everyone!

Group exercise is very popular and offers over 30 classes each week during the semester.  These are free and include cycling, Zumba, yoga, kickboxing, strength and tone, and more!  We also have a Fit4Life program and a certified massage therapist who does table and chair massage.  Call the Recreation Office to schedule an appointment!

Special Events

In addition to facilities, we also host annual events such as Tour de Rec, Run the Hill, the Jig’s Up Blugold Ice Fishing Contest, and the Shamrock Shuffle along with special events and bus trips.  We invite you to visit our department and follow us on social media. Come as you are and EXPERIENCE RECREATION!
