Benjamin Hetzer

Ben Hetzer

My name is Ben Hetzer and I have worked as a Web Development and IT Support Specialist since February 2013. I enjoy working here because I get to work on projects that I am enthusiastic about and it is rewarding communicating and working with office members and different departments to complete professional looking outcomes. My main job responsibilities are maintaining the Recreation website and database and attempting to resolve day-to day issues that occur with computers and other technology. I also create web pages and applications in Ruby on Rails when needed. The best part about my job is that I get to interact with other members of the department and learn new skills to support the department and enhance my education.

Courtney Benson

Courtney Benson

My name is Courtney Benson and I have worked as a graphic designer since January 2013. My main job responsibility is creating advertisements (posters, brochures, etc.) for the recreation office. I love all of the wonderful people that I get to work with as well and the fun and energetic atmosphere!

Jimmy McCusker

I enjoy working here because of all of the other employees that I work with and also all of the groups that use McPhee/Olson facilities. The best experience that I have had relating to my job is being able to help and assist all of the groups that use the facilities. All of the groups are extremely nice and thankful when using McPhee/Olson Facilities.

Robin Kozlowski

Intramural Supervisor

Robin Kozlowski

My name is Robyn Kozlowski and I have been working with the Intramural program since my freshman year. Now, in my ripe 5th year here at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, I have worked my way up to Intramural Program Supervisor and Administrative Assistant. I love working within the recreation department because my leadership team, support staff, and colleagues usher me towards the well rounded and healthy individual I am striving to become. My main job responsibility working as an Intramural Supervisor is to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for university students and faculty to engage in friendly competition. The best thing about my job is seeing so many people within a night; each one being active and competitive in their own individual ways. Plus, it’s the best feeling in the world to award a first time champion their t-shirt and glass!

Ben Epperly

Lifeguard

Ben Epperly

Hi! My name is Ben Epperly. I have been a lifeguard since January 2012. I enjoy working at the pool because I get to interact with a lot of students and faculty members that come in to enjoy the pool. My main job responsibilities include enforcing rules and keeping facilities clean and organized. My best work experience is when someone bet me I couldn’t get a brick from the bottom of the pool but I totally won the bet.

Megan Mulligan

MSPC Worker

Megan Mulligan

My name is Megan Mulligan and I have worked as an employee for MSPC since January 2011. I love a lot of things about my job! My main responsibilities are making sure that I provide a safe and clean environment for everyone and that they enjoy working out in our facilities. The best part about this job is being able to work around the student population whether its meeting new people and helping them with their fitness needs or just simply saying hello and giving a friendly smile and knowing that I could be the reason I made their day a little better. If I could tell people one thing about this job, it's that I think it is so funny when I am folding towels and people ask me if they are clean. OF COURSE THEY ARE!...I wouldn't be folding dirty towels. Also, when there is a pile of clean towels in the basket and people take the ones that I just folded instead of the ones that aren't folded yet. So just a heads up for next time :)

Luke Menges

Crest Fitness Center Worker

Luke Menges

My name is Luke Menges and I have worked at Crest since August of 2012. I enjoy working at Crest most because of the many members of Crest that come into workout during my shifts. Whether its with the free weights or on the cardio equipment, everyone comes into Crest with a positive attitude and common goal to improve their health. From cleaning exercise equipment and to folding towels, I take pride in Crest Fitness Center and do my best to provide members with the best experience as possible every time I "swipe" them in.

Andrea Powell

Group Fitness Instructor

Andrea Powell

I teach hydrorobics (similar to water aerobics), yoga, and cycling. As a group exercise instructor I get to help people be healthy. My favorite part about this job is when people say that they can feel their bodies getting stronger or more flexible or they feel more relaxed. I want all of my classes to have a non-judgmental, open, and energetic atmosphere. I put a lot of effort into keeping classes interesting, motivating, and challenging. Varying the music is the fun part of this, especially when participants are really encouraged by a song. Since many people come to group exercise for the social aspect it's part of my job to connect with a lot of different people; they are what makes the whole job enjoyable.

Nik Shilts

Open Recreation employee

Nik Shilts

My name is Nik Shilts and I have worked as a Open Recreation employee since September 2012. I enjoy working here because it’s a great environment to work in and get to help out with a lot of intramural activities. My main responsibilities are making sure that equipment is properly checked out and returned as well as helping building managers and supervisors set-up and cleanup activities. My best work experience here is helping set-up intramural basketball. It’s always fun to see all the different students participate in basketball.
