Be sure to keep an eye on this website for position vacancies and additional information.

DaveDave, WYSP Professional Staff

Being the tennis instructor for WYSP this past summer was one of the most rewarding and worthwhile jobs I have ever had. As the tennis instructor my job was to teach tennis techniques to kids 10 to 16 years of age. My favorite part of the job was all the great relationships i built with the kids and staff. It was a blast and I plan on coming back next year.

Sara

Sara, WYSP Counselor

The job I had as a WYSP counselor is challenging, but very rewarding. As a counselor, along with two other WYSP counselors, we are responsible for a certain age group of campers. We strive to teach the campers about sportsmanship, respect, and how to have fun. The best part of the job is to see the campers grow as individuals over the summer. I also had great co-workers to work with and would love to work with them again!

JuliaJulia, Lifeguard

As a lifeguard at UWEC, I clearly am responsible for protecting the lives and wellness of our patrons – staff and students of the University and other programs. Additionally, I enable a safe, friendly and fun environment at the pool. I think the most rewarding parts of the job is to know that others are safe on my watch, and the great amounts of networking and friendships that have evolved from this position!

BrennaBrenna, Graphic Designer

As the graphic designer, I am responsible for designing any posters, brochures, booklets, flyers, etc. as well as updating the recreation bulletin boards around campus.  Some days I will have bigger projects such as booklets or brochures, and other days I will have smaller jobs such as updating information on posters and documents from the semesters before.

JustinJustin, Crest Fitness Center Staff

Whether I am swiping Blugold cards or folding laundry, I have always enjoyed working at the Crest Fitness Center. When people come in to Crest, I feel like they are always happy to be there. I think these positive attitudes can be attributed to our great facilities, and how welcoming the staff is daily. I have been working at Crest now for four years, and I have loved every minute of it.

Abby

Abby, Group Fitness Instructor

I have been working as a Group Fitness Instructor for 2 years now. I enjoy my job because I get to share my passion for health and fitness with other people. All the instructors are great people who want to give you the best work out they can. All our classes are fun, different, and challenging. The two best aspects of this program are that there's something for everyone - from inexperienced all the way to athletes. And that coming to group exercise classes is an awesome way to meet people while staying fit!

Mariah

Mariah, Unknown

I have been an employee for the University of Recreation for about a year. I enjoy working for recreation because it gives me an opportunity to work on my customer service and to meet new people. Everyone that is involved is helpful and they are willing to answer any questions that I might have. I look forward to having another great semester working for University Recreation.

MackenzieMackenzie, Office Assistant

As an office assistant, you are a "jack of all trades".  I am responsible for a  wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, answering phone calls, selling memberships, copying promotional materials, cleaning, organizing office materials, entering data, scheduling massages, etc.  Every day I have something different to do in the office.  The biggest perk of the job is the people I work with... they're AMAZING!

SamSam, Ropes Course Facilitator

As a ropes course facilitator for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's, Eagle's View Challenge Ropes Course I have the opportunity to work with a variety of students and community members, from the initial planning of a ropes course session to the execution of the day's events. As a facilitator I guide participants through various high and low activities that incorporate elements of leadership, teamwork and communication. I encourage participants to step outside their comfort zones and challenge themselves both physically and emotionally. My job, as a facilitator, offers me the opportunity to work outdoors and develop great life skills, while working in a fun, exciting environment.

JustinJustin, Web Development and IT Support Specialist

I'm responsible for updating and maintaining the Recreation webpage, giving recommendations for all technology purchases, providing computer support for the Recreation department, and developing web applications in PHP.  A normal day for me consists of doing web updates, answering technology related questions from office staff, setting up laptops/projectors, and fixing printers/computers.

Excellence. Our Measure. Our Motto. Our Goal.
