RTI-CCP is a grant-funded project to enhance the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of in-service teachers, pre-service teachers, and education faculty around the federal law of Response to Intervention (RTI) and the theoretical and instructional concepts of Culturally-
Congruent Pedagogy (CCP).
RTI is a process for providing high quality instruction, assessment, and intervention that allows schools to identify struggling students early, provide appropriate instructional interventions, and increase the likelihood that the students can be successful learners.
According to Geneva Gay, author of the book; Culturally Responsive Teaching: Theory, Research, and Practice, “the way to improve the achievement of marginalized students of color is to change classroom instruction, not to change students” (2000).
