Grading:           The grading scale will have cutoffs no higher than A- = 90%, B- = 80%, C- = 70%, D- = 60%.

The cutoffs may be lowered at the discretion of the instructor.

 

Three hour exams (based on class, lab, HW)........................................................ 40%

Laboratory  Reports   (due at the end of lab periods)......................................... 15%

Final Exam  (weighted 60% toward final set of topics & 40% cumulative)... 20%
Water Bottle Rocket Launch  Report .................................................................... 5%

In-class Quizzes.......................................................................................................... 10%
Homework  (*due at beginning of class).............................................................. 10%
  

* The particular homework problem(s) chosen for grading will be picked at random.

 

Attendance:  Attendance will be taken. If you are habitually absent ( > 5) and you are on the border between

two grade levels at the end of the semester you will receive the lower grade. Any tests, labs, in-class quizzes or

homework missed during an unexcused absence will receive a zero. To be an excused absence you must inform

me if you are ill sometime during the day that you miss class or lab. For sports, field trips, etc. to be excused you

must inform me of known upcoming absences ahead of time. Make-up tests, labs, quizzes, and homework are

due before you leave. 

 

Students with Disabilities: Any student who has a disability and is in need of classroom accommodations, please contact the instructor and  the Services for Students with Disabilities Office in Old Library 2136 at the beginning of the semester.

 

Statement on Academic Integrity:   I consider any academic misconduct in this course as a serious offense,

and I will pursue the strongest possible academic penalties for such behavior.  The disciplinary procedures

and penalties for academic misconduct are described in the UW-Eau Claire Student Services and Standards

Handbook in the section titled ,“Chapter UWS 14—Student Academic Disciplinary Procedures.”

Also, during the course of the semester I sometimes have commitments that conflict with my scheduled office hours. If you would like to meet with me please call me or email to make sure that I am available.
