Background
I grew up in northeastern Ohio, just outside Akron. I graduated
from Heidelberg College in 1975 with
a BS in physics and mathematics.
I received an MA in Physics
from Kent State University in 1977
followed by a PhD in Physics in 1981.
My dissertation was "Measurement of refractive indices and their relation
to orientational order at smectic A - smectic C transitions".
Other applications of image processing to extract quantitative
information from images: behavior of specular reflections from waves, defects
in single-layer bubble rafts, single bubble dynamics.
