The awards go to students selected to be trained by faculty in performing science education outreach activities through the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Geology or Physics and Astronomy with those projects. Examples of possible outreach positions include: a science theatre presenter (doing physics demos), a greenhouse tour guide, a planetarium show presenter, a chemistry demo presenter, a Materials Science Center tour guide, etc. All students can apply for this award, but preference will be given to science education majors.APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Interested students should request application materials from the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or in any of the academic departments noted above. In the application, the student should indicate the positions they are applying for and why they are interested.APPLICATION DEADLINE:

The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences will appoint a Selection Committee, representing the six science departments, which will review student applications and decide which students are the most qualified, based upon the criteria provided by the faculty members wanting to have student assistants.SELECTION DEADLINE:

An award letter will be sent to each of the recipients by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. In December for the fall award and in May for the spring award, the Dean’s Office will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office for each recipient. Payment to the recipients will be made in December and May for the respective semesters after the work is completed.SPECIAL NOTES:
