Richard DeGrood Study Abroad Scholarship This scholarship is available to a Philosophy or Religious Studies major or minor student who has been accepted into the study abroad program at UW-Eau Claire. Student must be a continuing sophomore, junior or senior in Philosophy or Religious Studies whose performance exemplifies excellence. Applicants must have a minimum resident GPA and major GPA of 3.0. The student should submit an application to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies Office in 632 Hibbard Hall. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
Jannusch Global Awareness Fund This fund will be used to provide scholarships or study grants to majors and minors in the UW-Eau Claire Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies to help them achieve a goal to travel abroad. Recipients need not be participating in the university's formal study abroad program. Recipients must be currently enrolled UW-Eau Claire students when they are notified or the award. If they graduate, they may be allowed up to six months following graduation to submit to the Foundation their request for funds. The student should submit an application to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies Office in 632 Hibbard Hall. The application deadline is Monday, April 7, 2014.
Louis Warzecha Memorial Scholarship One scholarship will be awarded to either an outstanding history or philosophy major. This is a merit-based scholarship for which the recipient should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate active engagement in curricular and co-curricular activities. The student should submit an application to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies in 632 Hibbard Hall. The application deadline is Friday, March 14, 2014.
Willis & Betty Gertner Religious Studies Scholarship One scholarship will be awarded to a continuing junior or senior majoring in Religious Studies. The recipient must have a resident and major GPA of 3.0 or higher. Financial need is not a factor in determining an applicant's eligibility for this award. Previous recipients of this scholarship may re-apply for the award, but the Religious Studies faculty will choose the most deserving student from the applicant pool each year. Renewal of this award is not guaranteed. The student should submit an application to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies in 632 Hibbard Hall. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
Diane Moira Duncan Philosophy Award One award will be disbursed to recognize an outstanding essay each year written by a UW-Eau Claire Student enrolled in PHIL 485 - Seminar in Problems of Philosophy. Selection of the recipient will be made by the course instructor who will determine the best paper written during the seminar in a designated year. At the conclusion of the course the recipient shall receive the award.
