History
Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is a professional organization that provides public relations practitioner’s opportunities to further develop their professional careers. PRSA was chartered in 1947 and has since established standards of excellence andprinciples of ethics for practitioners to follow.
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) was founded approximately 20 years later in 1968 by PRSA, its parent organization. PRSSA is an undergraduate professional organization structured to prepare future professionals who are interested in the public relations and communications fields. The declared purpose of PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relation practitioners. Currently, there are over 300 PRSSA Chapters in the United States.
