PHASE II Speech Contest
The Phase II Orientation Committee is seeking current UWEC students to write a speech to welcome the 2015 incoming freshmen class to UWEC.  This speech will be one of the first things new students hear at Phase II Orientation.  We hope your speech gets them motivated and excited for Phase II as well as kick starts their year. You are encouraged to write about any topic you feel is important to communicate to new students in their first week on campus, but with a particular focus on academics. Some example questions that could be addressed are:

·         What does a new student need to know to be academically successful their first year at UWEC?
·         What is the most important—and best—part of life here at UWEC? What is the best part of academic life?
·         What do you wish someone would have told you during Phase II Orientation about the transition to UWEC?
·         What was your biggest challenge at UWEC and how did you overcome it.

The winner will receive a $250 scholarship for the fall, as well as the honor of addressing the 2,000 new students during Phase II Orientation in August.  The PHASE II Committee will select the finalists and the winner will be notified before the end of the spring semester.   The deadline for submission is Friday, May 1st.  To enter, email your speech to  Be sure to include your name, major and hometown.  Please limit to less than 1,000 words.
