AMOUNT: Two awards at $4,000, $8,000 total
AVAILABLE: ANNUALLY
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The Ruth L. Baker Scholarship is intended to give financial assistance to an Elementary Education major during the elementary practicum semester who has attained a high level of scholarship and who shows promise for becoming a successful career teacher. To be eligible for the Scholarship, the student must have been recommended by the MCEA Program Faculty for an Elementary Practicum experience; have a resident GPA of 3.50 or higher; be a full-time student during the Elementary Practicum; be an undergraduate Elementary Education major. (Special Education majors are not eligible.)
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask at least one member of the Teacher Education Program who is familiar with your achievements at the University to submit a letter of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Mid-February. Visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Exact deadline will be in Scholarship Applications Directions.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Selection will be based on the criteria above.
SELECTION DEADLINE: On or about April 1.
NOTIFICATION:
By letter. The Dean will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Recipient should write a letter of thanks to the family of Ruth L. Baker and deliver it to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, S-214.
