UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity announces reading seminar grants
The UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity will offer grants to support campus reading seminars on racial/ethnic topics. Seminar participants may include faculty members, academic and classified staff members, students and community members. The maximum grant request is $400, which must be used for book purchases.

Proposals should be sent to the Institute on Race and Ethnicity, UW-Milwaukee, PO Box 413, Milwaukee, WI 53201, and postmarked by Nov. 2.

Faculty/Academic Staff Forums
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs will present Faculty/Academic Staff Forums this semester. The programs will be held from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Wednesdays in the Presidents Room of Davies Center unless otherwise noted. Attendees are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch or tray.

        • Sept. 26: Eva Santos-Phillips, Latin American Studies, "Latinas Documenting Life."
        • Oct. 10: Jill Ferguson, Materials Science Center, "Research in the Materials Science Center."

Foundations of Education
Mark Clark presented a paper titled “Scholarship and Professional Development through Partnerships” at the Japan-U.S. Teacher Education Consortium meeting July 26-29 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

History
Jane Pederson served as chair and presented comments at a session titled "Women Agriculturalists: Image and Experience" at the 2007 annual meeting of the Agricultural History Society June 21 in Ames, Iowa.
