Eau Claire Big Read. The Eau Claire Big Read is a monthlong community reading event, which includes presentations, book discussions and films. This year's event will focus on Dashiell Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon." In addition to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the UW-Eau Claire Foundation has made a substantial donation to help purchase copies of the book to distribute to the public. McIntyre Library Exhibit. McIntyre Library and the department of geography and anthropology have collaborated to present an exhibit of photographs of archaeological sites provided by the University of Hartford Art School titled "Sanctuaries from Asia to the Americas." The photography exhibit, on display through the end of spring semester, celebrates the works of several University of Hartford students. The exhibit is housed on McIntyre Library's fourth and fifth floors.

'The West Side.' Kenny Salwey, who was featured in the documentary “Mississippi, Tales of the Last River Rat,” will be a guest on Wisconsin Public Radio’s "The West Side." Planetarium Program. Tonight's show, "The Stargazer," about becoming an astronomer, is narrated by Nichelle Nichols, who starred in the original Star Trek TV series and movies as Uhura. Artists Series. The African Children's Choir will present "Journey of Hope," a family concert of well-loved children's songs, traditional spirituals and contemporary tunes. The choir is made up of African children, ages 7 through 11, many of whom have lost one or both parents through the devastation of war, famine or disease. 34th Annual Viennese Ball. The largest social event hosted annually by UW-Eau Claire, the Viennese Ball is documented as the largest of its type presented outside of Vienna.
