MAILED: Oct. 30, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The eighth annual Tunnel of Oppression held at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will take place Wednesday, Nov. 13, and Thursday, Nov. 14.
This year the nationally recognized tunnel is located in the Council Fire Room, Davies Center. Free 30-minute tours will run from 5 to 9 p.m.
Making Our School An Intercultural Community sponsors the interactive program to raise awareness and educate people about the different types of oppression found in today’s society. During the tour participants will be subjected to scenes depicting racism, domestic abuse, sexual violence, homophobia, religious intolerance, disability discrimination and body image prejudice.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to take a tour of the tunnel. Afterward, participants can discuss the feelings and thoughts provoked by the experience.
MOSAIC is a Housing and Residence Life task force devoted to diversity education at UW-Eau Claire and in the Eau Claire community.
