EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 18. All events are free and open to the public.WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20:
- The Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Richard Mark Heidel, will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The group, assembled for a spring tour through Ireland, will perform before leaving for their trip March 22. A blend of Irish and American music will be showcased, including "Amazing Grace" by John Newton, "Hymn to the Fallen" by John Williams and "Riverdance" by Bill Whelan.
THURSDAY, MARCH 21:
- Junior soprano Kendra Sampson, Cottage Grove, Minn., and sophomore soprano Amanda DePons, New Berlin, will perform a joint recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Senior Jenifer Schwartzhoff, Eau Claire, and junior Phillip Dorn, Clintonville, will provide accompaniment on the piano. Eight works will be performed, including Leo Delibes' "Les Filles de Cadix," Seymour Barab's "The Daisies" and "Ain't it a Pretty Night" by Carlisle Floyd.
