Love Fest Forensics Tournament![]()

EAU CLAIRE — The Wisconsin Love Fest Forensics Tournament was held at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10. The UW-Eau Claire team hosted the 18-school Grace Walsh Individual Events Tournament on Saturday and did not compete, but the team took fourth place out of 15 schools at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Ripon College on Sunday.
Eau Claire won three events and finished fourth after Western Kentucky University, Arizona State University and Bradley University (Ill.).
Senior Brian Haapala, Grayslake, Ill., was Eau Claire's top performer. He took first place in the individual sweepstakes and poetry interpretation competitions, and also captured first place in duo interpretation with Aaron Unseth, Plato, Minn. Haapala also finished second in informative speaking and sixth in after-dinner speaking.
Juniors Ben Schneider, Greendale, and Scott Boras, Kellogg, Minn., took third place in persuasion and impromptu speaking, respectively. Boras also placed fifth in duo interpretation with junior Adam Coolidge, Eau Claire.
Senior Eric Rasmussen, Eau Claire, earned a third-place finish with his effort in after-dinner speaking.
Sophomore Brandon Buchanan, San Antonio, Texas, captured fourth in extemporaneous speaking, while freshman Mandy Dolan, Greenfield, took seventh in persuasion.
