EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, will present a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov.14, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The concert will begin with four pieces of sacred music: "Praise the Name of God with a Song" by Allen Koepke, "Selig Sind Die Toten" by Heinrich Schütz, Henryk Górecki's "Totus Tuus" and "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen.

The Concert Choir also will perform "Zigeunerleider," by Johannes Brahms, a collection of eleven gypsy songs written for choir and piano, with Stacie Olson, accompanist.

Following intermission, the a cappella singing group Impromptu will perform three selections.

The concert will conclude with four pieces composed or arranged by contemporary American composers: "Gideon" by Stephen Paulus; "Sometimes I Feel," an African American folk song arranged by Robert Shaw and Alice Parker; "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal" by Alice Parker; and Leonard Bernstein's "The Best of All Possible Worlds" from "Candide."

Throughout its history the Concert Choir has worked with many outstanding orchestras and guest conductors, including the above-mentioned Robert Shaw, renowned as America's greatest conductor of choral music.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
