Story Idea
UW-Eau Claire students are participating in the National Week of Student Action
to End Violence Against Women by collecting travel-size toiletries and sweat
suits to be sent to Native American women in Oklahoma who have fled violent
situations and to women in Kenya who are escaping female genital mutilation.
Donations will be collected during the day this week at drop-off sites in Davies
Center and on the Central Campus Mall. For details,

Visiting Expert
Virgil Wiebe, assistant professor at the University of St. Thomas Law School
and international legal consultant for the Mennonite Central Committee, will
give a lecture titled “Cluster Bombs in Iraq:
WMD in Slow Motion,” at 7 p.m. Monday, April 5, in Room 007 of Phillips

Visiting Artists
Native storyteller and children’s book author
Anne Dunn and her daughter, singer/songwriter Annie Humphrey, will perform from
7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, in Davies Theatre. The
Ojibwe women are co-founders of the Sister BraveHeart Lodge, a non-profit co-op
that helps women and children provide for themselves. UW-Eau Claire’s
Amnesty International organization is hosting the event.
