EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, Feb. 9. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, Feb. 9:
- Senior Kristin Yost, Sisseton, S.D., will present a senior
piano recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Yost will begin the program with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata in
E minor, BWV 914 and continue with Beethoven’s four-part Sonata in D
Major, Op. 28, or “Pastorale.” She also will perform works by
Aram Khachaturian and Moritz Moszkowski.
Wednesday, Feb. 11:
- Senior Dylan Kruziki, Stevens Point, will perform a senior
trumpet recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Kruziki will open the concert with William Lovelock’s Concerto for Trumpet
and continue with “Kaddisch,” the first part of Maurice Ravel’s
“Deux Melodies Hebraiques.” Following an intermission, Kruziki
will perform Concerto en RE by Guiseppe Tartini and “Up Jumped Spring”
by Freddie Hubbard. Kristin Yost will provide piano accompaniment.
Sunday, Feb. 15:
- Paul Kosower, professor of music, will perform a faculty
cello recital at 2 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Kosower will perform J.S. Bach’s Suite No. 1 in G Major, followed by
the Suite for Violincello by Caspar Cassado. Following an intermission, Kosower
will perform “To Be Free,” a composition by his son, cellist Mark
Kosower, Op. 9, No. 1, from “Simple Songs.” He will conclude the
performance with Benjamin Britten’s Suite for Cello, Op. 72.
