Story Idea
A UW-Eau Claire senior majoring in economics and Spanish
will be honored during the UW System’s ninth annual Women of Color Award
Ceremony and Reception later this month. Rachel
Lockett, of Brooklyn Park, Minn., will be recognized for her many contributions
to UW-Eau Claire, including but not limited to her leadership in the Black/Latino
Student Association; her efforts to recruit other high-achieving students to
UW-Eau Claire; her campus volunteer work with the International Folk Fair the
annual chili feed; and her community volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity,
the Salvation Army, and Big Brother/Big Sister. She has received the George
T. & Clayton T. Piercy Scholarship and the Diversity Scholars Award, and
is a member of the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. Rachel
