Story/Photo Idea
Two UW-Eau Claire students will host their first
weeklong Spanish Summer Camp this week. The student
teachers will teach Eau Claire area children ages 5-10 to speak Spanish.
Valerie Mumm and Lee Ann Pignet, both senior Spanish education
majors, started the camp to give area children an opportunity to learn a language
and to raise public awareness about the importance of having language education
available for elementary-age students. The students are planning to involve
the children in numerous activities designed to make learning Spanish fun.
The camps are being offered in three weeklong sessions,
with the first session running this week, June 30-July 3. Sessions
also will be offered July 7-11 and July 14-18. The
camps will run from 8-11 a.m. each day in the Children's Museum of Eau Claire
in downtown Eau Claire. For more information, call (715) 855-4423 or (715) 855-4115.
