EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is celebrating its 31st annual Scholastic Honors Week Monday, April 21, through Sunday, April 27.

"This week is set aside by the University to recognize students of high scholastic achievement," said Bob Shaw, associate dean of students and the coordinator of honors week.

This year, thirty-four UW-Eau Claire honor societies will sponsor and participate in the week's activities. Events for the week are as follows:

Tuesday, April 22

• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Hibbard Humanities Hall - Information Booth and Bake Sale (Pi Delta Phi)
• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., East Lobby of Davies Center - "An Apple for your Teacher" (Order of Omega) Apples will be delivered April 24 and 25.
• 12:15 p.m., Alumni Room, Davies Center - Brown Bag Seminar (Alpha Lambda Delta & Phi Eta Sigma)
• 4 to 6 p.m., Schneider Hall Room 100 - Faculty Debate with economics faculty (Omicron Delta Epsilon)
• 5:30 p.m., Ho Chunk Room, Davies Center - Banquet and Induction (Sigma Pi Sigma)
• 6 p.m., Davies Theatre - Last Lecture Series (Mortar Board)
• 6 p.m., Arrowhead Room, Davies Center - Initiation and Andresen Award Ceremony (Pi Sigma Alpha)

Wednesday, April 23

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., East Lobby of Davies Center - "An Apple for your Teacher" (Order of Omega)
• 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wisconsin Room - Cake Walk and Trivial Pursuit (Honors Program Organization)
• 4 p.m., Presidents Room - Juegos Florales-Poetry Reading Competition in Spanish (Sigma Delta Pi)
• 7 p.m., Davies Theatre - Initiation (Golden Key)
• 8 p.m., Presidents Room - Initiation (Order of Omega)

Thursday, April 24

• 4 p.m., Alumni Room - Speaker and Certificate and Awards Presentation (Alpha Kappa Delta)
• 6 p.m., Hibbard Penthouse - Initiation (Phi Alpha Theta)
• 6:30 p.m., Presidents Room - Initiation and Meeting (Sigma Gamma Zeta II)
• 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., Towers TV Lounge/ TV 10 Studio - Annual SOPHS Telethon with TV 10 (SOPHS)
• 7:30 p.m., Zorn Arena - Ann Devroy Memorial Forum, guest speaker Lou Cannon, contributing editor to the California Journal, will present "Why We Write: Reflections of a Reporter and Biographer."
• 7:30 p.m., Hibbard Hall Penthouse - Dinner and Movie Night (Pi Delta Phi)

Friday, April 25

• 9 a.m. - Kaleidoscope of Nursing Research Day (Sigma Theta Tau, School of Nursing, Continuing Education)

Saturday, April 26

• 10:30 a.m., Davies Theatre - Initiation (Sigma Theta Tau)

• Noon, Presidents Room - Initiation (Beta Alpha Psi)
• 1 p.m., Schofield Auditorium - Initiation (Phi Eta Sigma)
• 1:30 p.m., Davies Theatre - Initiation (Phi Kappa Phi)
• 2 p.m., Council Fire Room - Combined Reception, sponsored by the Alumni Association and UW-Eau Claire Honors Groups for all honor society members, friends and families attending initiations or events.
• 3 p.m., Alumni Room - Initiation (Beta Gamma Sigma)
• 3 p.m., Davies Theatre - Initiation (Omicron Delta Kappa)
• 4 p.m., Schofield Auditorium - Initiation (Alpha Lambda Delta)
• 5:30 p.m. (seating will begin at 5 p.m.) Spruce/Tamarack Room - 2003 Honors Banquet. The cost will be $12.50 per person and the deadline for dinner reservations, which must be purchased in advance, is April 15.

Sunday, April 27

• 11 a.m., Central Campus Mall - Initiation Ceremony (Mortar Board)
• Noon, Council Fire Room - Brunch (Mortar Board)

Events will take place in Davies Center unless otherwise noted. All events are free and open to the public with the exception of the honors banquet.
