A sampling of the progress made by UW-Eau Claire, under Chancellor Donald Mash’s leadership, framed by the strategic plan that he put in place working in concert with the campus and the community:
Stressed active engagement by students in the college experience from entry to exit
- expanded orientation and first-year experience offerings as well as senior capstone
- improved retention and graduation rates
- raised admission standards and improved the quality of the student body
- maximized course sections and emphasized service to students
Focused on the importance of experiential learning to complement and enhance the curriculum and strong teaching
- enhanced faculty-student collaborative research, study abroad, internship opportunities, service learning & civic engagement activities
- worked with student leadership to enhance and solidify differential tuition
Promoted the concept of an aggressive interactive role for the campus with its service region as an essential aspect of a regional public university’s role and mission
- consolidated and relocated Outreach and Continuing Education in order to better serve the region
- mobilized students through promotion of service learning and community action days
- personally led by example, serving on numerous boards, committees and study groups
