Communication and Journalism
The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association honored "Culture Talk" with a second-place award in the public affairs/talk show (radio) category at the WBA Student Awards for Excellence ceremony March 7 in Madison. "Culture Talk," a radio program about the influence of culture on communication, is produced as part of a UW-Eau Claire student/faculty collaborative research project by students Joe Tierney, Nessa Severson, Anne Moser and Pierce Koch, with Judy Sims serving as faculty supervisor. The award-winning episode featured an interview with UW-Eau Claire international student Anna Bakhtiyarova. The show is funded with a grant from the UW-Eau Claire Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, a UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity grant as well as funding from UW-Eau Claire’s department of communication and journalism. Broadcasts will resume Sunday, March 29, from 6-7 p.m. and continue every Sunday evening through May 17 on WUEC, 89.7 FM.
