Theatre. Featuring "Vanities" by Jack Heifner, directed
by Kelly Lee Kriesel. The play tells the story of an innocent America
coming of age as seen through the lives of three Texas girls from the
early 1960s to the mid-1970s. As aggressively vivacious high school
cheerleaders, college sorority sisters and cynical, disenchanted adults,
the girls ultimately discover that you can't go home again. Tickets,
available at the Service Center and at the door, are $9 for the public,
$7 for those 62 and older, $6 for those 17 and younger and UW-Eau Claire
faculty/staff, or $5 for UW-Eau Claire students. Riverside Theatre,

15 item. Monday, April 19 Native American Awareness Week Events. This week's events celebrate Native American culture with speakers, music, food and discussions on contemporary and historical issues. Gordon Thunder, a tribal elder and language instructor from the Ho-Chunk Nation, will lead a ceremony today at 10 a.m. near the Council Oak Tree between the School of Nursing and Davies Center. Ada Deer, director of the American Indian Studies program at UW-Madision, will speak about her experiences, including her role in reversing the termination of the Menominee Nation, at noon in the Potawatomi Room of Davies Center. Leonard Gibbs, social work, Susan Moch, family health nursing, and Gloria Fennell, social work, will present a seminar titled "Practical Application of Evidence-Based Practice: Experience Teaching an Interdisciplinary Course." They will discuss how students from various majors were able to apply evidence-based practice to their disciplines. A video of the course final exam also will be shown. Muli Linder, a physician and officer in the Israel Defense Forces, will give a presentation about the costs of war and peace in Israel. Linder was the 67th Refusenik — one who refuses to perform military service in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the interest of peace — to sign what has become known as “The Combatant’s Letter.” Sponsored by the Geography Club and the Refuser Solidarity Network, with support from the Center for International Education.
