Summer Cinema. "The Shop on Main Street."
(Czechoslovakia 1965, directed by Ján Kadár and Elmar Klos, 125
minutes, black and white, in Czech, with subtitles.) Set in
Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, the haunting tragicomedy tells the
story of an old Jewish widow who owns a button shop and doesn't seem
to know that World War II is going on. Also July 25.

Jazz at Noon. Featuring UW-Eau Claire and area jazz
musicians. Refreshments will be sold. Central Campus Mall (rain
site: The Cabin, Davies Center), noon to 1 p.m.
Adult Education Information Session. The Educational
Opportunity Center will present an informational brown bag session
for adults interested in post-secondary education options. The
session will provide information on selecting a college, the
admissions process, and applying for financial aid. To register,
call 836-2024. Also Aug. 14 and 28. Oak Room, Davies Center, noon to
1 p.m.
