Changes in College of Arts and Sciences
In accordance with university policy, notification is given of proposed changes in the
following programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Comprehensive Major: Computer Science, Liberal Arts (Code 170-030)

To (effective Fall 2003): Sixty-one semester credits, including: [1, 3
and 4 remain the same except to be renumbered]; 2 and 5 become 4. A computer
science capstone experience and electives, selected from one of the following:
A. CS 485 (capstone experience) and six credits of electives chosen from
computer science courses numbered 330 or above and not already included in the
computer science core (9 credits); B. CS 482, CS 492 (capstone experience), and
three credits of electives chosen from computer science courses numbered 330 or
above and not already included in the computer science core (9 credits). For a
degree in computer science, a student must: 1. Complete either CJ 202 or Engl
305 (satisfies GE-IA); 2. Complete Phil 308 (satisfies GE-IVB); 3. Complete one
lab science sequence chosen from: (a) Phys 211 and 212 (9 credits), plus a
minimum of three additional credits of science courses chosen from the list of
allowed courses, or (b) Phys 231 and 232 (10 credits), plus a minimum of two
additional credits of science courses chosen from the list of allowed courses.

Interim
appointments announced
Tim Petermann has been appointed interim athletic director
for UW-Eau Claire effective July 1. Petermann will serve in the
interim role as the university undertakes a national search for
a permanent director.
Patricia Christopherson will serve as interim chair of the department
of allied health professions during Summer Session 2002.
Campus
Dining Services
Sodexho USA now provides all food service to the UW-Eau Claire
campus, including service previously provided by Chartwells, Burger
King and Hot Shots (a subcontractor to Burger King).
Following is an overview of services Sodexho will provide to the campus
during the 2002 Summer Session and the 2002-03 academic year. Hours indicated
are preliminary weekday hours and may change; weekend hours may be different.
Not all services within a venue will be available for the full hours indicated.
A more complete listing of hours of service will be provided at the start of the
fall term.
2002 Summer Food Service
Davies Center
Food venues on the first floor of the Davies Center will be closed for
renovation during much of the 2002 summer term. Service will be available in two
venues on the second floor. First floor service will be added as construction
completion allows.
Little Niagara............7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Little Niagara will be the primary retail food service during
the summer of 2002.
It will offer breakfast and a variety of hot lunch entrees, sandwiches, salads,
bakery products, beverages and more. Offerings will be expanded and
enhanced in response to customer interest.
Terrace Dining Room............11 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Terrace will offer traditional, all-you-can-eat food service - including hot
entrees, sandwiches, salad bar, desserts, beverages and more - to serve the needs
of camp and conference attendees and new students and parents attending summer
orientation/registration activities. Enhancements will include more
restaurant-style menu items and service styles, and unlimited servings on all
food items. The Terrace is open to the public whenever it is in operation.
Mallards Court............To Be Determined
The Mallards Court area of Davies, former location of Subway and Pande's Pizza,
is being redeveloped to support Jazzman's, a Sodexho signature concept coffee
house. Jazzman's will offer a full line of Seattle's Best coffee products,
including coffee-based smoothies, sandwiches, soups, salads and fresh bakery
items. The area also will house Freshens, a national brand offering fruit
smoothies, frozen yogurt and ice cream. It is expected that Jazzman's and
Freshens may be ready to begin operation sometime in July. Look to future Summer
Bulletin issues for details.
Hilltop Center
Summer service at Hilltop will be limited to camps, conferences and NYSP.
Catering
Throughout the summer and the academic year, Sodexho will provide a full line of
catered services for meetings and special events. A range of options will allow
for service levels and cost to be balanced to meet the needs of event planners.
Contact the Conferences and Reservations office in Davies for assistance in
arranging for special needs.
2002-03 Academic Year Food Service
Davies Center
Terrace Dining Room............7-9 a.m.; 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; 4:30-7:30 p.m.
The Terrace will offer traditional, all-you-can-eat food service - including hot
entrees, sandwiches, salad bar, deserts, beverages and more - aimed primarily at
resident students. Enhancements will include more restaurant-style menu items
and service styles, unlimited servings on all food items and extended evening
hours. Meal prices for meal plan participants and for cash/Blugold card
customers will continue in 2002-03 at 2001-02 rates. The Terrace is open to the
public whenever it is in operation.
Mallards Court............7 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
The Mallards Court area of Davies, former location of Subway and Pande's Pizza,
is being redeveloped to support Jazzman's and Freshens. Please see the
descriptions of summer food service options for more details.
Market Place............7 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
The Market Place, former location of Burger King and Hot Shots, will offer many
new options. The Sky Ranch Grill, a Sodexho signature concept, will serve
burgers, grilled sandwiches and side items. Blimpies, a national brand, will
offer made-to-order hot and cold sub sandwiches, salads and more. Pete's Arena,
another Sodexho concept, will provide personal pizzas, calzones, pasta dishes
and other Italian offerings. There will be grab-and-go cases with pre-made
sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, yogurt, sushi and more. Beverages and bakery
products will be available. Central cashiers will allow customers pay for all
selections at one location.
Little Niagara............7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Little Niagara will offer breakfast and a variety of hot lunch entrees,
sandwiches, salads, bakery products and beverages. Offerings will be expanded
and enhanced in response to customer interest.
Dulany Inn............11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The Dulany Inn will offer a fine dining option for the noon meal. The menu will
be expanded to include upscale offerings as well as heart-healthy alternatives.
Display cooking, special event menus and other features will continue to be
highlights of this service.
Hilltop Center
Riverview Dining Room............7-9 a.m.; 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; 4:30-7:30 p.m.
The Riverview will offer traditional, all-you-can-eat food service - including
hot entrees, sandwiches, salad bar, deserts, beverages and more - aimed
primarily at resident students. Enhancements will include more restaurant-style
menu items and service styles, unlimited servings on all food items and extended
evening hours. Meal prices for meal plan participants and for cash/Blugold card
customers will continue in 2002-03 at 2001-02 rates.
Food Court............10:30 a.m.-midnight
The Food Court will offer fast food and convenience store items. Options will
include Taco Bell Express, Blimpies, the Mein Bowl (Chinese/Asian cuisine),
Pete's Arena and Freshens. Beverages, salads, bakery products and other items
will be available. The Food Court will include a convenience store offering food
and nonfood items desired by residence hall students.
Crest Center
Higher Ground............5 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Freshly prepared burgers, hand-cut fries and other signature items will be
offered in the Higher Ground. Hours will be extended and beverage and snack
service will be offered during programming hours in consultation with the Higher
Ground advisory committee.
Haas Fine Arts Building
Café a la Cart............7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Café a la Cart will offer a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, bakery
products, beverages, snack items and more. It will be located in the central
lobby area of the building.
