Jason Tetzloff Named Interim Director of Orientation and First Year Experience — An
Eau Claire native has been named interim director of Orientation and First Year
Experience at UW-Eau Claire. Provost and Vice Chancellor Ronald Satz announced
the appointment of Dr. Jason Tetzloff, of Defiance, Ohio, effective July 30.
Tetzloff earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-Eau Claire and worked for many years as a photographer for the Eau Claire Leader Telegram. He earned a Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1996. He comes to UW-Eau Claire from Defiance College, a private college in Ohio, where he was an assistant professor of history and concurrently directed a number of academic student services programs. At UW-Eau Claire Tetzloff will play a leadership role in planning, developing and implementing orientation programs for all new students and for coordinating the university’s first year experience courses in consultation with the deans of the Colleges and the Office of the Dean of Students. He will report to Satz. Satz said Tetzloff’s academic experience and his strong record in directing student learning programs qualify him for the position. "He has a strong academic background and a wealth of experience in developing academic programs to complement classroom learning. I’m pleased to welcome Jason back to our campus." While teaching history at Defiance College, Tetzloff directed the international studies program, developed academic programming in the residence halls, served as an adviser for summer orientation for new freshmen, advised honor students, and directed an interdisciplinary global civilization program. Tetzloff’s wife, Lisa, also a UW-Eau Claire alumna, recently was appointed director of student life at UW-Green Bay.
