State Supreme Court Upholds Act 11 — On June 12 the Wisconsin Supreme Court found all provisions of the pension law known as Act 11 constitutional. Visit the Department of Employee Trust Funds Web site at http://badger.state.wi.us/agencies/etf/ for complete information, including a copy of the 122-page decision. As soon as details about the implementation of Act 11 are available, Payroll and Benefits Manager Donna Weber will offer informational workshops for university employees.


U.S. Professor of the Year Nominees Announced — Three UW-Eau Claire professors are representing the university this year as nominees for the 2001 U.S. Professor of the Year award.
     Each year the Council for Advancement and Support of Education names a U.S. National Professor of the Year, an award that recognizes instructors for their commitment and dedication to undergraduate teaching and acknowledges the role of faculty in encouraging students to remain connected with their alma maters after graduation.
     Academic institutions make the nominations. UW-Eau Claire Provost Ronald Satz recently nominated Scott Hartsel, professor of chemistry, Charles Tomkovick, professor of management and marketing, and CeCelia Zorn, professor of nursing.


Girls Gymnastics Camp — UW-Eau Claire will offer two sessions of its annual girls gymnastic camp, July 15-20 and July 23-27, in the McPhee Physical Education Center. The camp will offer girls instruction in beginning to advanced gymnastics, including tumbling, dance, trampoline, vaulting, balance beam and uneven parallel bars. Session one is for competitive gymnasts ages 8-18. Session two is for recreational gymnasts ages 4-8. The registration deadline is June 30.
