Eight-Week Summer Session Classes Begin.

Summer Fitness Classes. A variety of free fitness classes will be offered Monday through Thursday during summer session. Hi/Low aerobics will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:15 a.m. in the McPhee Dance Studio; spinning will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at noon, Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and Thursdays at 5 p.m. in McPhee 127; hydrorobics will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 a.m. in the McPhee pool; and cardiokick will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesdays in the McPhee Dance Studio. Summer memberships for the University Recreation Fitness Center are $15 at Hilltop Center. For more information, call 836-3377

 

Music on the Mall. Featuring jazz violinist Randy Sabien, described by National Public Radio’s "Jazz Profiles" as "the past, present and future of jazz violin." Audience members are invited to bring blankets or folding chairs for lawn seating. Central Campus Mall (rain site: Schofield Auditorium), 7 p.m.

Tuesday, June 12
Summer Session Film. "Beauty and the Beast." (France 1946, directed by Jean Cocteau, 92 minutes, black-and-white.) Jean Cocteau’s faithful adaptation of the classic legend is a sumptuously designed fantasy set in Renaissance France. A noble and dignified Beast (Jean Marais) suffers for and is ultimately transformed by his love for Beauty (Josette Day). In French, with subtitles. Davies Theatre, noon and 7 p.m. Also June 14.

Orientation Program for New Freshmen. Check-in begins at 7:45 a.m. in the Skylight Lounge, Davies Center. Also June 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29; and July2 and 3. For more information, call 836-2003.

Jazz at Noon. Featuring UW-Eau Claire and area jazz musicians. Refreshments will be sold. Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin, Davies Center), noon to 1 p.m. Through June 15.

Back Injury Prevention Seminar. Employees are invited to a seminar about risk factors for back injury, corrective measures, safe lifting techniques and more. Sponsored by the Office of Loss Prevention and Safety. McIntyre Library 2023, 10 to 11 a.m.
