"Dawn of the Dead" posterSummer Cinema. “Dawn of the Dead.” (U.S. 2004, directed by Zack Snyder, 100 min., rated R.) An unexplained plague has decimated the world’s population and yet … the dead aren’t dying. They’ve become zombies, stalking endlessly in a constant quest to feed on the flesh and blood of the few remaining living. A ragtag group of desperate survivors in a Wisconsin town seek refuge in a large indoor mall, where they must learn not only to protect themselves from the ever-increasing zombie horde, but also to co-exist with each other as a last bastion of humanity. Davies Theatre, 7 p.m. Through Aug. 4.

Music on the Mall Final Concert. Matt Wahl, a singer-songwriter who plays acoustic guitar and harmonica, will perform the final concert for the 2005 summer session. Living his dream of touring and playing music full time, Wahl has created a down-to-earth, light-hearted acoustic rock-folk sound that appeals to any age. Drawing from such artists as Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin and Jimmy Buffet, he mixes lyrically meaningful original songs with fun cover tunes. Central Campus Mall (rain site: Schofield Auditorium or The Cabin, Davies Center), 7 p.m. Full story. return to top
