With "The Exorcist," William Friedkin rivals Hitchcock for heart-stopping terror in this deeply horrifying masterpiece that led to religious boycotts, fainting and nauseous audiences. Linda Blair plays Regan, a 12-year-old girl possessed by the devil. After exhausting all the options of science, psychology and medicine, Regan's mother realizes the supernatural nature of her daughter's condition and resorts to a religious solution, turning to Father Karras for an exorcism. Music on the Mall. Featuring the Irene Keenan Jr. Band. Of Irish and Native American descent, Irene Keenan Jr. grew up in both worlds and feels a kinship to the rhythms of both cultures. As a member of The Wails, she opened for many blues legends and rock acts. When that group disbanded she joined a hard rock cover band from Indianapolis, toured the west-central United States and made a 33-day tour of China. After a brief learning experience as a rhythm guitarist in Los Angeles, Keenan returned to Wisconsin to refuel, sing and play with a variety of bands.
