If members of the media have interviewed you, e-mail Liz Wolf Green at greenew@uwec.edu, so she may share the news with University Bulletin readers. Following are examples of UW-Eau Claire people and programs that recently appeared in the media. NOTE: Some newspapers, including the Leader-Telegram, require free registration. Chancellor Mash was quoted in the July 27 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article "Reilly nominated to be UW president — Extension leader would move to system's top job." Richard Boyum, emeritus, Counseling Services, was interviewed on WEAU-TV July 26 about how voters are influenced by personal, emotional and psychological characteristics of the candidates. UW-Eau Claire student Jessica Schaid was quoted in an article titled "Diversity and growing pains come to small-town Wisconsin — Two cultures learn to value differences" on the front page of the July 25 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The article discussed Somali immigration to Barron, the subject of a collaborative research project between Schaid and Zoltan Grossman, geography and anthropology. Meghan Whelihan, a teaching assistant for the UW-Eau Claire Summer Institute, and institute participant Jordyn Bunce were pictured in a photo titled "Girl overboard" in the July 24 Leader-Telegram. The photo showed Whelihan and Bunce canoeing as part of the Summer Institute class "I Canoe, Can you." Mike Skarp, Computing and Networking Services, and Libby Thurston, Continuing Education, were quoted in the July 22 Leader-Telegram article "'Geek not a bad word at Science Institute — High-achieving teens excel at UW-EC." Todd Hoffner, UW-Eau Claire's head football coach, was interviewed on WWIB radio July 22 about the artificial turf project at Carson Park. |
