Eight-Week Summer Session Classes Begin. Through Aug. 6.
Summer Fitness Classes. The following free fitness classes will be offered during Summer Session. Hydrorobics: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 6:15 to 7:15 a.m., McPhee Pool; Cardio/Strength: Mondays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Higherground; Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:15 to 7 a.m., McPhee Dance Studio; and Wednesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Higherground; Step: Tuesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., McPhee 127; Spinning: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., McPhee 127; and Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m., McPhee 127 (June 14-July 16). Massage Therapy is available Monday through Friday. Call 836-3377 for appointments.
Music on the Mall. Featuring Howard “Guitar” Luedtke and Blue Max. Led by one of the Midwest's best slide guitar players, this rocking electric blues trio has opened shows for several big-name blues artists. Audience members are invited

Early Morning Pilates. Beginning today and running through July 22, classes will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:45 to 7:30 a.m. in the McPhee Dance Studio. Cost is $75 for community members or $60 for UW-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students. Payment and registration are required before the first class. Summer Cinema. "Blood Simple." (U.S. 1984, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, 97 min., rated R.) This film is a bizarre crime story about a seedy Texas bar owner who devises a plot to have his own wife and her lover murdered. What results is a chaotic chain of misunderstandings, lies, and mischief. Davies Theatre, noon and 7 p.m. Also June 17. 
Concerts in the Park. UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education and the Indianhead Arts & Education Center will sponsor a series of summer concerts at the Shell Lake Pavilion in Shell Lake. Tonight's opening concert, performed by the IAEC Concert Band Faculty, begins at 6:30 p.m. More information is available online.

Jazz at Noon. Featuring UW-Eau Claire and area jazz musicians. A variety of grilled lunch items will be sold. Central Campus Mall (rain site: The Cabin, Davies Center), noon to 1 p.m. Weekdays through July 2; and July 7 and 8.

Juneteenth Celebration. The UW-Eau Claire Affirmative Action Office and the Office of Multicultural Affairs are among area organizations sponsoring the Chippewa Valley's 4th Annual Juneteenth celebration. The event to honor racial unity, will feature music, a brief program on the history of Juneteenth, children's activities and food and refreshments. Hillside Pavilion, Mt. Simon Park, 5 to 8 p.m.

Indianhead Arts & Education Center Concerts. UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education and the Indianhead Arts & Education Center will offer many concerts throughout the summer at the IAEC gymnasium, 802 First Street, Shell Lake. Today, the Randy Sabien Jazz String Students will perform at 4:30 p.m., and the Band Camp will perform at 7 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $4 for the public or $2 for students.
