Art & Design
"Our Town," an art exhibit chronicling Eau Claire's changing landscape from the 1940s to the present, will be on display June 11 to Aug. 27 at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire. An opening reception will be held June 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the gallery on the library's second floor mezzanine. Works by more than a dozen local artists will be featured, including the following artists affiliated with UW-Eau Claire: William Benson (emeritus), Charles Campbell (emeritus), Janet Carson (emerita), Mike Christopherson, Steve Katrosits, Bobby Pitts, Tiit Raid (emeritus) and Anders Shafer (emeritus). Curriculum and Instruction
Ann Klein (emerita) was honored by the Arizona Book Publishing Association May 10 for her book, "A Forgotten Voice: A Biography of Leta Stetter Hollingworth." The book was named the Best Biography/History Book of 2001/2002 by the association. Go to top of page

Geography and Anthropology
Harry Jol co-authored a paper titled "Sedimentology of a Modern Braid Bar in the Wisconsin River near Spring Green, Wisconsin: Analysis Using Ground Penetrating Radar," which was presented at the 37th meeting of the North-Central Section of the Geological Society of America March 24-25 in Kansas City, Mo. Music and Theatre Arts
Yukiko Fujimura, a UW-Eau Claire piano student of Alexandre Dossin, was awarded a $1,000 second prize at the 2003 Schubert Club Scholarship Competition in April at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. Go to top of page

Nathan Miller was interviewed by WHEM radio May 9 and WQOW-TV May 15 about the May 15 eclipse of the moon. Go to top of page

Political Science
Ali Abootalebi wrote a pre-publication review of Thomas Oatley's book, "International Political Economy: Interests and Institutions in the Global Economy," Pearson/Longman, New York, 2003. Abootalebi's review was acknowledged in the book by the author. Go to top of page
