React To Tragedy
|
September 21, 2001
I live and work six miles away from Washington DC’s Dulles International Airport. My job involves a lot of travel so I have taken-off and landed at
Dulles countless times. It is an understatement to say that the attacks
were a shock. We spent that entire day, like most Americans, glued to the
TV in our staff lounge watching the devastation and waiting to hear what was
going to happen next. I had many phone calls and emails from my Wisconsin
friends making sure I was OK and asking if I was ready to move home yet.
In this area we were all affected in some way. But traffic jams resulting
in long commutes are nothing to complain about. Having to take a different
road home does not even come close to those that have lost family, friends
and loved ones.
