EAU CLAIRE A conference
focusing on international peacekeeping is slated for Oct. 24-26 in Madison. The
event is open to the public.
The Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies will
host its annual conference, titled International Peacekeeping &
Peacemaking: A Time of Crisis, A Time of Hope, at the Madison Area Technical
College.
Lech Walesa, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and former
president of Poland, will give the conference’s opening keynote address at 7
p.m. Oct. 24 in the Mitby Theater at MATC. Registration is required.
Other topics and events include:
- Nonviolent peaceful intervention
- Teaching about war and peace
- U.S. foreign policy and peacekeeping
- Community to community peacekeeping
- Regional examinations of peace and conflict in Africa, Columbia, Israel, Northern
Ireland and elsewhere
- Human rights and peacekeeping
Cost to the public is $20 for Walesa’s presentation or
$60 for the full conference.
