React To Tragedy
|
September 24, 2001
Just a quick note that I am OK. I was not in the financial district during
the attack, but witnessed the fire and collapse from my office on 6th
Avenue. New York is a different place these days. Every single store,
light pole, bus stop and open wall displays thousands of pictures of
missing people along with cards, flowers and candles. Even the lobby in my apt. building has pictures of missing people. The smell and smoke are
constant reminders of the devastation. It’s everywhere you go. I was able
to volunteer for Guy Carpenter (a division of Marsh McLennan) as my company
lost 7 consultants working on that project in the WTC. I assisted with the
set up of their new office in Midtown and witnessed not only that company’s
mourning over the loss of employees, but the rebuilding of their business
from scratch. This experience has changed me forever.
Thanks for your concern.
