Student Senate to host City Council candidates forumMarch 7, 2014
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate is pleased to announce it will host a forum between the candidates for Eau Claire City Council president at noon March 14 in Ojibwe Room C of Davies Center, with lunch and beverages provided for attendees.
Kerry Kincaid, incumbent City Council president, and Monica Lewis, incumbent at-large councilwoman, will respond to a series of questions from a debate moderator on issues pertinent to the campus community. Questions from the audience also will be allowed, with each candidate having an equal chance to respond.
"This is an opportunity for students to engage in the political process as civically engaged community members," said Jake Wrasse, Student Senate intergovernmental affairs director. "This forum is an excellent way to bring this conversation to campus."
Students, faculty and community members are welcome to attend. Visitors coming from off campus are encouraged to park in the three-hour metered spaces in the Haas Fine Arts lot, use off-street parking or call the university's Visitor Center at 715-836-2544 to reserve a parking space.
